Vintage Cars Are Forever
Antique and vintage cars have always been my fascination ever since I can
remember. One day when I was little my parents took me to the museum.
Actually, it was a historic museum with many different exhibits about life
in America since colonial time. However, the only things that interested
me were the collection of vintage cars. As my parents explored the
museum I stayed in the automobile section, admiring each one of the
classic and vintage cars on display.
I recall watching a vintage car racing on TV when I was 12, and I got so
excited! There was something about those classic cars racing around the
race track that captured my attention like nothing else. My eyes were
glued to the TV screen for the duration of the program. Thrills and speed
were also my passion. I loved watching NASCAR and the Indy 500, but those
vintage cars with the open wheels were extra special.
As I grew up I decided that I wanted to own some vintage cars of my own. So I
worked long hours to earn money to feed my passion for vintage cars. While
others in my family worked normal jobs and had plenty of time off, I
worked 2 jobs averaging about 80 hours per week. I was determined to
succeed so that I would have the money to collect antique automobiles. I
would look at different vintage cars for sale ads with pictures and
visualize myself taking hot vintage sports cars for a spin. All
my efforts paid off. I was able to buy my first vintage car when I was
24.
It was a classic 1950 car, an adorable big old Chevy convertible with so much style
which I bought as a birthday present to myself. It had spacious
leather seats, a giant bench in the back, and of course the stylish tail
fins. You see, in an age of unibody construction and compact foreign cars,
driving around in big old vintage cars made me feel really special. Have
you ever seen an antique car driving down the street? I bet it drew your
attention and everyone else's. Yes, I was the center of attraction.
Everywhere I went everybody had their eyes on me and my vintage Chevy.
A side benefit was that the vintage car made it easier for me to get
dates! The girls were first attracted to my hot classic automobile, and
after they saw the handsome guy behind the wheel, they simply couldn't
resist :)
All of that came with a price tag, though. Vintage cars are gas
guzzlers, and I was getting about 15 miles a gallon. Nevertheless, it was
all worth it. I loved every minute of it.
It's hard for those with no interest in vintage cars to understand. But
since you're reading this page, you most likely do :) To many people
automobiles are just a means of transportation to get you from one place
to another but to me vintage cars are a lot more than that. Every slick
line, every steel frame, and every revving engine of the vintage cars I
collect never cease to fascinate me. Well, that's what having a passion is
all about.
