Elegant Victorian Christmas Decorations

Victorian Christmas decorations and a few other antique ornaments are the only things I use these days to decorate my house for the holidays, completely avoiding anything that looks modern. That's why if you were to enter my home during the holiday season, you would feel as though you had been transported back to a bygone era.

This tradition actually started quite by chance a few years ago when I bought my first Victorian Christmas decoration.

I entered a little antiques shop as I was strolling down the street of a quaint neighboring town. It was in early December, so they had quite a few Christmas decorations on display.

I was particularly drawn to an elaborate wreath that was covered with fine silk ribbons and delicate lace. I immediately fell in love with the elegant styling of that wreath and purchased it without a second thought.

However, to my dismay, when I got home I realized that this Victorian Christmas decoration was out of place among my other modern decorations. It looked far too exquisite next to the gaudy flashing lights and bright colors that I had elsewhere in the room. So I made the choice right there and then to take down the other stuff and go with only Victorian Christmas decorations that year.

I loved it so much and decided to continue it every year since then. I'm not the only one who likes it, either. Nearly everyone who came visit are greatly impressed and they compliment me on my lovely Victorian Christmas decorations. Many also ask where they can purchase similar items, and I am only too happy to oblige them with the information.

When I first started however, I didn't know where I could find a good selection of Victorian Christmas decorations. The antiques shop that I went to before didn't have any similar decorative items, and depending on pure luck to guide all of my discoveries would not get me very far.

Then it occurred to me that I would probably find great resources on the internet for locating more Victorian Christmas decorations. In this day and age you can find almost anything and everything online. So, I started doing some searches and browsing through relevant web pages.

To my utter delight, I saw one Victorian Christmas decoration after another on numerous websites specializing in products from that time period. The selection at many of these sites are wonderful and often times you can get those precious pieces at very reasonable prices.

What's more, I found several websites that showed me how I could make my own Victorian Christmas decorations. Although, due to my busy schedule, making my own decorations is too time consuming, I am proud to say that I do have at least one Victorian Christmas decoration that I made all by myself!

After a few years of acquiring different items from a variety of sources, I've managed to build a very nice Victorian Christmas decoration collection. I am able to fill my entire living room and family room with beautiful, unique, and elegant pieces that bring back the true glory of the holidays.

If you want a different look for your home this holiday season, I suggest that you give Victorian Christmas decorations a try too. I'm sure you will appreciate them as much as I do. Be sure to read my other article on antique Christmas decoration as well.
