Antique Perfume Bottles

Consider antique perfume bottles if you're looking for something unique to collect. While stocking up on everyday objects like glasses or stamps may be interesting to some people, others find them boring and prefer something different. If you belong in the latter group of collectors, vintage or antique perfume bottles may just be what you're looking for. Surprisingly, many people don't think about these beautiful bottles as collectable items, but they certainly meet all the criteria of collectibles and have a fun quality all to themselves.

These ornamental glass masterpieces are remarkable not only in idea, but in design as well. They vary in everything from style, color, shape, type, and size. It's a very rare occasion when you find two antique perfume bottles exactly alike.

This fact allows for the opportunity of having a large collection of an impressive size. Unlike other collectables, you can find these vintage and antique perfume bottles in a wide variety of stores and shops.

Depending on where you look, their prices contrast as well. Sometimes you'll pay just 50 cents, and other times you can expect to spend about $50.00.

As the saying goes, one man's junk is another man's treasure. Occasionally, you may find a vintage or antique perfume bottle at a garage sale or flea market at a bargain price because the owner doesn't know it's true value!

The texture of the glass can be very unusual. You can find raised patterns, like in the Petite Heart Designer antique perfume bottles which has flowers and hearts stamped into the front of the bottle. Some antique perfume bottles might even have an edged configuration, like the Christmas Tress perfume bottle, which glass is cut. Sometimes the surface can be smooth, and other times it can have ridges circling the bottle. If you find antique perfume bottles that have a sandpapery texture, which are rare, count yourself lucky. While these bottles are out there, they may not be easy to find.

You may also find pieces that can sport odd shapes and sizes. There are miniature antique perfume bottles on the market that are so small, it's hard to imagine being able to squeeze any perfume in them at all. Other times you can find extremely elongated bottles that look more like a slender vase than they do scent holders. One great example of this is the Crystal Clear Lacey Intricate bottle, which looks just like a vase from a distance.

Of course, you can visit several antique stores and try to find the ones that appeal to you, but in this day and age the internet is also a great resource. Besides potentially being able to find more varieties of antique perfume bottles, the web also gives you the additional benefit of getting these beauties directly from other countries since some of these antiques originate from different places such as Europe, China, and Egypt.

As previously stated, a nice thing about them is the amazing styles you can find. Sometimes these antique perfume bottles can be so unique in design they don't even look like a bottle. One great example is the Lady's Read Hat Society bottle. This artistic container is in the exact shape of a 1920s woman. The Cat's Meow, Prancing Glass Hors, and Bird on a Flower are fun proof of how great collecting them can really be!

So, start getting busy exploring your neighborhood garage sales, flea markets, and antique shops, and searching the internet to find some vintage or antique perfume bottles to add to your collection.

Happy collecting!
