Exquisite Antique Christmas DecorationI came upon the most exquisite antique Christmas decoration that I had ever seen while walking through my favorite antiques store in a quaint little town near where I live a couple of years ago. Yes, that's the same antiques store where I found the beautiful Victorian Christmas decoration I talked about in another article.
This antique Christmas decoration was one of those items. It was a tiny angel that cost only $20. So, without hesitation I proudly took her home. After I cleaned her up somewhat, very delicately, it revealed a tiny angel
sitting on top of a gold ornament with elegant filigree surrounding it. Today, decorations are mass produced in factories, and many households across the world have the exact same ornaments. Previous time periods didn't have the luxury of factories. Everything was unique and created with care. When things were made in that manner, the exquisiteness was always obvious, and is preserved even to the present time. With the antique Christmas decoration that I'd managed to find, you could tell that the creator had put quite a bit of time and energy into making it. The etchings were perfect and gave the sense that someone cared a great deal about what they were creating. When finding such a treasured antique Christmas decoration, it is almost as if you are keeping that time period and that creator alive in a sense. The memories and the story of that angel antique Christmas decoration continue to live on as it is displayed at the top of my family's Christmas tree. Often times, you can find treasures such as the antique Christmas decoration
that I discovered in antique stores, at auctions, and sometimes even at garage
sales. I've often found some simple
treasures at flea markets. Of course, everyone sees something different in antiques. What I find to
be breathtaking, someone else may find to be unappealing. It is all in the eyes
of the beholder, and once in a while you will get lucky and come upon something
very valuable at a really cheap price. You simply have to be patient and have a
keen eye for them. Anyway, I knew that I had found something very special in my angel antique Christmas decoration. After doing a bit of research, I found that it was valued at approximately $150. Not only had I been fortunate enough to find such a rare antique Christmas decoration, but I had gotten a real bargain on it as well. So, if you're trying to find some antique Christmas decorations, you should take some time to walk through several antique stores, flea markets, as well as estate and garage sales. Consider going to different neighborhoods and towns, and see if anything catches your attention. You may be fortunate enough to find an antique Christmas decoration like I did. Perhaps even something better. Another way to go about it is by searching the internet. As I mentioned in the article about Victorian Christmas decorations, there are plenty of web sites that offer great selection of antique Christmas decorations. You should also visit some auction sites like eBay, since often times people try to sell their individual or family collections there. You never know, the antique Christmas decoration you're looking for could be just at your fingertips! Also read about
